Abstract

This paper first elucidates metaphor from cognitive perspective,and then gives examples to analyze how conceptual metaphor works in news discourse,in which three typical types-war metaphor, up-down metaphor and container metaphor are discussed.It further proves that metaphor is a powerful device in human cognition.
