Analyses ofAnalytical dictionary of Character and XU Shen's thought

XU Shen was a great master of the school of classical philology. In order to preserve publicize and defend classical philology, he compiled Analgtical Dictionary of Characters, the first dictionary in Chinese history, which is of highly academic value and momentous signifiance.while compiling this famous book, Xu shen explained the original meanings of Chinese Characters' structure through its pattern and trying to be trustworthy, which reflected his plain materialism thought. Restricted by his class standpoint and historical condition, the explanation of some characters incarnated his political standpoint of upholding feudal sovereignty .
