Abstract
Objective To explore the mechanism of interleukin-8(IL-8) and tumor necrosis factor(TNF) in the lumbar disc herniation in flammation reaction. Methods The medium was analyzed subsequently for the production of interleukin-8 and tumor necrosis factor in the normal group and herniation group. Results IL-8 and TNF were detected in all herniated specimens and the concentration is at a high level and different among the three herniated groups.Yet at the normal group the concentration of IL-8 and TNF low sharply or nothing at all. Conclusion Both IL-8 and TNF can be produced by the herniated intervertebral disc itself.TNF and IL-8 have a low concentration at the early stage yet increase gradually as the herniation degree increase, and then a series of biochemical changes. This will quicken the resorption of herniated intervertebral disc.
