Influence of ethanol extract of raw and processed Polygonum multiflorum on mice liver

Objective: To observe influence of ethanol extract of Polygonum multiflorum on mice liver before and after processing.Methods: Ethanol extracts of raw and processed Polygonum multiflorum at large,medium and small dosages were repeat administered to mice for a consecutive 60 days,then blood and tissues of the sacrificed animals were detected and compared.Results: Compared with the control group,the liver index and pathology of small dosage group were significantly different from that of the negative control group,while other groups only showed similar tendency.No significant difference was observed between the negative control group and other groups regarding to the biochemical indicators.Conclusions: Consecutive administration of ethanol extract of raw Polygonum multiflorum for 60 days can induce liver damages in health mouse.
