Abstract
Mr. Zhang Henshui (Hen-shui Chang, 1895 - 1967), the consummate storyteller and one of the most popular novelists of his days, had the everlasting vitality of art and literature. The major reason is that he wrote about the real life with the combination of romance and social activities and portrayed characters with lively personalities. By using popular artistic forms loved by the people, Zhang Henshui carried forward the recurring themes in traditional Chinese literature.
