Abstract

Polima cytoplasmic male sterility (Pol CMS) and dominant genic male sterility (DGMS) in rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) are controlled by two independent gene systems. Without the effect of the dominant epistatic inhibition gene (Rf), the dominant male sterile gene (Ms) can be stably expressed in different genetic backgrounds. In Polima male sterile cytoplasm, the Ms gene can inhibit the expression of the CMS gene and, as a result, exhibits the characteristics of DGMS.
