Hypertonic Saline Combined Epinephrine and Isoproterenol for Bronchiolitis

Abstract

Objective To explore the clinical effects of the 3% hypertonic saline combined with inhalation of low doses of epinephrine and isoproterenol on bronchiolitis in infants.Methods One hundred and nine infants with bronchiolitis in our hospital were randomly divided into treatment group and control group.The treatment group was treated by using epinephrine and isoproterenol to dissolve in 3% hypertonic saline as inhalation therapy,and the control group by using epinephrine and isoproterenol to dissolve in 0.9% saline as inhalation therapy.The symptom improvement,duration of hospitalization and changes in pulmonary function in the two groups before and after treatment were compared.Results After treatment,clinical symptoms and signs were improved in the two groups,and the more significant improvement in the treatment group,with the shorter average hospital stay and the better improvement in the average lung functions compared with the control group.Conclusion 3% hypertonic saline combined with low doses of epinephrine and isoproterenol inhalation has a therapeutic effect in the treatment of bronchiolitis.
