Breeding and Utilization of BT-type CMS Line 8006A in Japonica Rice

8006A,derived from the cross and backcrosses of 863A,a BT-type japonica CMS line with stable male sterility,and 8006,a late japonica rice variety with early maturity and good grain quality,is a new early maturing late BT-type CMS line in Japonica rice.It is characteristic of stable male sterility,good grain quality,and high hybrid seed production yield.Its hybrids showed good lodging resistance,high seed set,heavy 1 000-grain weight,high grain yield and good grain quality.The CMS line 8006A and its hybrid Sujingyou 2 or T You 011(8006A/Xiangqing) were both examined and approved to release to commercial production in Jiangsu Province in January,2006.
