Survey on the Knowledge,Attitude and Behavior About AIDS Among Farmers in Donggang City

Abstract

Objective To investigate the status of knowledge,attitude and behavior about AIDS among rural population,so as to provide scientific basis to promote AIDS health education in rural areas.Methods A total of 290 farmers selected by stratified random sampling were investigated.The data were statistically analyzed by SPSS13.0 software.Results The awareness rate of the main routes of HIV/AIDS transmission among the farmers in Donggang was high,but the awareness rate of the non-transmission routes was low.16.1% of the farmers had ever had sex with two or more persons.Over two-thirds of them had unsafe behavior.The main sources of the knowledge of AIDS were from TV,newspaper and magazine,and radio.Conclusions Government should carry out various kinds of propaganda and education activities among farmers on the basis of their knowledge of AIDS to improve their attitudes towards AIDS and to avoid the occurrence of HIV/AIDS to the greatest extent.
