Significance of expression of CD62L and CD11B in pregnancy-induced hypertension patients

AIM: To study the significance of expression of CD62L and CD11B in patients with pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH). METHODS: In 25 pregnant women with PIH and 24 normal pregnant women at third trimester, CD62L and CD11B on polymorphonuclear neutrophils were analyzed by flow cytometry (FCM). Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to measure soluble L selectin (sL selectin) plasma level. RESULTS: The expression of CD62L was significantly lower in PIH patients (22.3±2.5)% in control group (41.8±4.1)%, P 0.01 . The expression of CD11B was significantly higher in PIH patients (55.9±5.2)% than in the normal pregnant women (21.2±2.2)%, P 0.01. sL selectin plasma level was significantly higher in PIH patients (1070±89) ng/mL than in normal pregnant women (890±58) ng/mL, P 0.01 . CONCLUSION: In PIH patients, CD11B and sL selectin are obviously elevated, which may play a significant role in stimulating leukocyte activation during PIH.
