Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery(VATS) for patients with early-stage non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC). Methods 48 patients with early-stage NSCLC in our hospital were randomly divided into the VATS group(full thoracoscopic lung resection) and the conventional thoracotomy group(conventional thoracotomy lung resection). The intraoperative and postoperative conditions, total effective rate and complications of the two groups were compared. Results The improvement of operative time, incision length, blood loss, drainage tube indwelling time, mean postoperative hospital stay and complications was more pronounced in the VATS group than in the conventional thoracotomy group(P 0. 05). The total effective rate of the two groups had no significant difference(P 0. 05). Conclusion VATS is a safe and effective method in the treatment of patients with early-stage NSCLC.
