Abstract
The outcome of the extensive application of modern technology proves that the application of modern science and technology, the latter in particular,is never value-neutral,which leads some thinkers to pay more attention to its social consequences and social risks. In fact, western thinkers' criticism about technological rationality is directed at the alienation of technology and rationality. With the potential risks of science and technology, modern humanism needs to be remolded to provide reasonable value principles for technological development, and of which, the principles of interest and humanitarianism should be followed in scientific research and technology applications. In order to avoid the devastating impact of modernization and establish a mode of development with its peculiar characteristics,China needs to integrate both the spirit of science and democracy in Western civilization and the humanism of traditional Chinese culture.
