Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effect of ESWL on the treatment for ureteral calculus. Methods: Low intensity ESWL was employed to treat ureteral calculus in 646 patients. All patients underwent examination of B ultrasonography, KUB X-ray, and intravenous urography (IVU) before and after treatment. Results: The successful rate of the first ESWL was 53.9%, the repeated lithotripsy rate was 46.1% and the total successful rate was 96.9%. Conclusion: The low intensity ESWL was as effective as normal intensity ESWL on disintegrating ureteral calculus.
