Research progress in urban heat island

Abstract
Urban heat island, as a main character of modern urban climate, is increasingly severe with the improvement of urbaniza- tion in all counties in recent years. The effect on ecological environment of urban heat island, main mechanism, and spatial and tem- poral distribution of urban heat island as well its mitigating strategies was reviewed in this paper. Some future research works about this field were also described based on research progress of urban heat island.
