Experience with TURP in treating huge benign prostatic hyperplasia(A report of 41 cases)

Abstract

Objective To explore the therapeutic methods of huge benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH).Methods 41cases with huge BPH received TURP were analyzed retrospectively.Resutls In the postoperation of TURP,the IPSS was decreased from 30±2.5 score to 8.1±2.3 score.The maximal uroflow rate was increased from 5.1±2.4 ml/s to 18.6±5.3 ml/s.The residual urine was decreased from 50～1100 ml to 0～40 ml.Operative complications was found in 5 cases(12.3%).Among them,3 cases were TURS,2 cases were secondary bleeding after operation.Conclusion TURP is a safe and effective method to treat the huge BPH with proficient skill.
