Management of huge benign prostatic hyperplasia:Transurethral resection of the prostate with transurethral vaporization of the prostate(A report of 35 cases)

Abstract

Objective:To explore the therapentic methods of huge benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH). Methods:35 cases with huge BPH received TURP with TUVP were analyzed retrospectively. Resutls:All the 35 operations were successfully. The operation time was 50~120min (mean,90min). The latex foley catheter was removed within 48 hours after the surgery. Followup for 6~12 months (mean,8 months) in 35 cases of urethral stricture ( 1 cases) and temporary urinary incontinence ( 2 cases ) . Conclusion : TURP with TUVP is effecive method to treat the huge BPH.
