Abstract

A multi-chip electronic control system was developed for an automotive engine fueled with compressed natural gas(CNG) based on a gasoline engine.Three AVR MCU were used as electronic fuel injection MCU,electronic ignition MCU and master microcontroller, which were produced by ATMEL corporation.A tuning up and monitoring system was also developed in order to adjust the parameters easily.MAP data of basic ignition advanced angle and injection pulse width of the engine were obtained.Under the same test conditions,a contrast test was conducted in using the ECU of the gasoline engine and the ECU developed and the test result shows that engine ignition controlled by the multi-chip ECU is benificial to improve dynamic performance and reduce emissions effectively.
