Abstract

Objective: To observe the influence of rhubarb and microecological preparations in the treatment of gastrointestinal dysfunction of patients with multiple organ dysfunction syndrome(MODS).Methods: A prospective case-controlled study of 96 MODS patients was conducted. The patients in control group were treated with classical therapy.Meanwhile, the treatment group was treated with rhubarb and microecological preparations. The intestinal dysfunction score, acute physiology and chronic health evaluation Ⅱ score(APACHE Ⅱ)were calculated before and after 7 days and 14 days the treatment respectively, the prognosis within 28 day was recorded. Results: The intestinal dysfunction score was significantly decreased, and APACHE Ⅱ score was significantly decreased than those in the control group(P0.05);there was significant difference on the mortality within 28 days in treatment group compared with those in the control group,it was significantly decreased when APACHE Ⅱ between 8 and 20 scores(P0.05).Conclusion: Rhubarb and microecological preparations in early treatment can improve gastric barrier function and the prognosis of the patients with MODS.
