Abstract
Objective To know the nitrate contamination status in the vegetables in Baoding city,Hebei province.Methods The vegetable samples were collected from the markets in Baoding,the concentration of accumulated nitrate in 20 kinds fresh vegetables was determined in Jul.and Aug.,2006.Results The concentrations of nitrate in the vegetables were 5.3-5 013 mg/kg. More than 11 kinds of vegetables(55%of total)were polluted by nitrate.The content of nitrate in different vegetables ranked as follows:leaf vegetablesroot vegetablesmelon-fruit vegetableseggplant vegetable.Conclusion Nitrate contamination in the vegetables in Baoding city is in high level,so it is strongly recommended that the nitrate contamination of vegetables should be controlled and prevented.
