Abstract

Objective To investigate the quality of drinking water in Guilin, and to provide a scientific basis for improving the residents' drinking water quality. Methods Drinking water samples collected from different water supply sources were detected according to Standard Test Method for Drinking Water(GB/T5750-2006).Results Among the 2,020 water samples detected during the period of 2008-2011,1,339 samples were qualified, with the qualified rate of 66.29%.The qualified rates of urban and rural drinking water samples were 87.78% and 26.72%,respectively,and the difference was statistically significant. The qualified rate of terminal tap water(88.10%) was lower than that of municipal finished water(98.21%).The qualified rate of unit-provided water was 55.36%.The main reasons for causing unqualified water samples were the unqualified microbial indicators and free chlorine. Conclusions It is necessary to strengthen the supervision on rural living and drinking water, ensure the implementation of sanitary disinfection system in rural centralized water supply, and reduce the use of rural self-contained draw-well,reinforce the cleaning and maintenance of urban water pipeline, and enhance the supervision on unit-provided water quality.
