Abstract

Objective To investigate the integrons in acinetobacter baumannii isolated from our hospital. Methods K-B tests were performed to detect the susceptibility of 12 kinds of antimicrobial agents against 68 strains of acinetobacter baumannii. Integrons were analyzed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and DNA sequencing. Results The resistant rates to cefoperazone/sulbactam and ampicillin/sulbactam were 20.6% and 47.1%,while the resistant rates of imipenem and meropenem were 77.9%,75%,respectively. The resistant rates of other antimicrobial agents were more than 70%. Integrons by PCR were positive in 36 of 68 isolates, and gave a 2.9-kb PCR product, contained the aacA4 gene, the chloramphenicol acetyltransferase gene catB8,and the aadA1 gene. Conclusion The intergrons in acinetobacter baumannii isolated from our hospital were conferred resistance to aminoglycosides and chloramphenicol.
