Cost-effectiveness analysis of metronidazole and tinidazole to treat the trichomonas vaginitis

Aim To estimate the curative effect, adverse reaction and cost effectiveness of metronidazole and tinidazole for treatment of trichomonas vaginitis. Methods 60 patients with trichomonas vaginitis were randomly divided into groups for treatment with oral metronidazole (the treatment group ) or oral tinidazole (the control group) respectively. Their curative effects and the adverse reactions were observed,meanwhile both cost effectiveness of them were evaluated by pharmacoeconomics.Results The effective ratios were 93 33% and 96 67% ( P 0 05) for trichomonas vaginitis. The ratio of the adverse reaction was 30 00% for metronidazole and 6 67% for tinidazole( P 0 05). The cost effectiveness ratio of metronidazole was 0 0557 and 0 2772 for tinidazole( P 0 01). Conclusion Both of metronidazole and tinidazole can treat the trichomonas vaginitis effectively. The adverse reaction ratio of metronidazole has statistical difference with that of tinidazole. The cost effectiveness ratio of metronidazole is lower than that of tinidazole.
