Abstract
Water transfer schemes of the western route project of South-to-North Water Transfer have been decided ultimately.Water quantity transferred in the first stage of the project is planned to be 4.0×10~9m~3,and there are six receiving areas, including Qinghai,Gansu, and so on.Taking Gansu water-receiving area as a case, the idea and method of programming, the principle of choosing receiving areas, the results in preparatory programming, and the auxiliary projects needed for water resources demonstrations were presented. The importance and contribution of South-to-North Water Transfer Project in social and economic development and ecology construction in Gansu Province were analyzed.
