Abstract

Objective To identify the common allergens of allergic rhinitis. Methods Thirty different allergens produced by Allergopharma Co. Germany, normal saline (negative control) and histamine (positive control) were used for skin prick test in 868 patients with allergic rhinitis. Results Six hundred and nine cases (70.2%) were positive for the test, and among them, 68 patients had the history of asthma, 62 subjects were positive for one single allergen, 547 patients were positive for more than 2 and the allergens were predominantly inhalant ones. In the 609 positive subjects, the most common allergens were dermatophagoides farinae (n=525, 86.2%) and glycyphagus destructor (n=488, 80.1%). Conclusion Dermatophagoides farinae and glycyphagus destructor are the common allergens for the condition. Skin prick test is valuable for the identification of allergens of allergic rhinitis.
