Abstract

Ferritic stainless steel 430,which is a larger stainless steel grade at TISCO,was used as the test material, sulfuric acid made by sintering plant and industrial sulfuric acid were used to simulate the actural pickling process on laboratory scale, the performance of the pickled stainless steel were then examined. The results show that the pickling rate with sulfuric acid made by sintering plant is slower than that using industrial sulfuric acid, and the pickled stainless steel is whiter light. However, there is no significant difference in corrosion morphology examined with scanning electron microscopy(SEM).
