Abstract
Abstract Corrosion data have been generated in dilute sulfuric acid solutions for a wide variety of stainless alloys. Most data have been generated at atmospheric boiling temperature (~100°C), with limited testing at 80°C to provide an indication of temperature sensitivity. Data have been generated in solutions of 0.5 to 20% concentration to produce data that help define the 0.10 mm/a (4 mils/year) corrosion resistance threshold. Materials investigated range from lean duplex stainless steels to highly alloyed NiCrMo materials.
