Abstract
Investigation on butterflies was carried out in North Luo River valley of Yanan, Shannxi Province. The results showed that there were 75 species belonging to 54 genera, 6 families. i.e. Papilionidae, 3 species and 2 genera; Pierdae, and 10 species and 7 genera; Satyridae, 13 species and 10 genera; Nymphalidae, 25 species and 15 genera; Lycaenidae, 15 species and 11 genera; Hesperiidae, 9 species and 8 genera. Among them, 34 species were monotype genera, and 5 species were first recorded in Shannxi Province. By an analysis of butterfly faunal structure, it had been determined that the Palaearctic species were the overwhelming butterfly group. All the specimens were deposited in the specimen room of College of Life Sciences, Yanan University.
