Molecular type of salmonella strains caused human food-poisoning and sporadic diarrhea by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis in 2010

Abstract

Objective To study molecular type of salmonella strains caused human food-poisoning and sporadic diarrhea in 2010.Methods Eighteen salmonella strains isolated from diarrhea patients and residual food in food-poisoning were further identified.and cultured.The DNA of isolate was digested with restriction enzyme Xba I,and the products of digestion were run in pulsed-field gel electrophoresis(PFGE).The DNA fingerprint maps of different salmonella strains were compared and analysed by using Bionumerics5.1.Results The DNA fingerprint maps showed that molecular types of 18 salmonella strains were multifarious PFGE patterns.The fingerprint maps of food-poisoning isolates from the same batch were the same。and 2 stains from diarrhea patients were also consistent.Conclusion The PFGE technology can be effectively applied in tracing the suspected source of food contamination and the molecular epidemiological study on salmonella strains.
