Abstract
Objective:To investigate the effect of ligustrazine on lung ischemia-reperfusion(I/R)injury in immature rabbits.Methods:Thirty-six healthy experimental rabbits(aged 3-4 weeks old, weighing 350-450g)were randomly divided into three groups(n=12 in each). The I/R group re-ceived ischemia(60min)and reperfusion(120min)in the left lung, while the ligustrazine group received ligustrazine(60mg/kg)intravenous injection before I/R.Polymorphonuclear leucocytes (PMN)count of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF),malondialdehyde(MDA),superoxide dismutase(SOD),and myeloperoxidase(MPO)levels in lung tissue were determined. The changes of lung wet to dry weight ratio(W/D)and histological appearances were observed. Results:In I/R group, the activity of SOD decreased,W/D,levels of MDA and MPO,and PMN count of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF)were significantly higher than those in S group(all P0.05),but the these changes had been alleviated significantly in LZ group. Conclusion:Ligustrazine could protect lung tissue from ischemia-reperfusion injury;the protective mechanism may be that ligustrazine can effectively decrease the PMN sequestration in the lung and alleviate the lung injury resulting from oxygen derived free radical.
