Abstract

Objective To explore Mental health status of middle school students in Sanming city. Methods Students in middle school were investigated by means of random straticulate cluster sampling. The methods and instruments used in the investigation process are similar. Results Among the 2383 students, the positive rate of SCL- 90 was 38.36% , and the ratio was higher in rural school than that in urban school. The positive rate of various factors was between 13.18% and 35.88%. Coercion, bad interpersonal relationship and paranoid ideation were obvious. Students with middle acute stress reaction accounted for 30.38%, in which senior students (35.48%) were the major part comparing with junior students (27.65%). Students with high acute stress reaction accounted for 0. 9% -2.14% in all grades. Conclusions A good few mental problems were found in middle school students. Education and consult of mental health must be carried out, especially in rural middle schools.
