Abstract

A high performance liquid chromatography-inductive coupled plasma-mass spectrometric(HPLC-ICP-MS) method is developed for the simultaneous determination of extractable chromium(Ⅲ)and chromium(Ⅵ) in textiles. The compound is well separated on an Agilent Bio-WAX anion-exchange column( 50 mm × 4. 6 mm,5 μm) instead of ion-pair reagents tetrabutylammonium hydroxide. The detection of chromium (Ⅲ) and chromium( Ⅵ) is carried out on wool, cotton and polyester samples. The results show that the recoveries range from 86. 4 % to 105. 7 %,the method accuracy is less than 4.7 %,and the limits of quantitation of chromium( Ⅲ) and chromium( Ⅵ) are 0. 060 μg /L and 0. 016μg/L respectively.
