Abstract
Biomineralization is defined as the mineral formation process occuring in organisms. Liposome systems, which could provide not only a confined microspace but also an organic matrix for biomineralization, can be used as models to study biomineralization. In this paper, the research progress of biominerals growing in liposomes was reviewed. The involved minerals include calcium phosphate, calcium carbonate, calcium oxalate, and so on. The mechanism of crystal growth modulated by liposome was also discussed.
