Abstract
By methods of literature review, interview, questionnaire, and mathematical statistics, this paper studied the optimization and conformity of the teaching objective and content of the compulsory gymnastics course in normal colleges and universities. It was suggested that the teaching contents of gymnastics should be determined according to the social development and students' needs, and that the major content of gymnastics should focus on fitness exercise.
