Abstract

Objective To study the therapeutic efficacy of the drainage reduced by thrombin after modified mastectomy for breast cancer. Methods 86 cases of breast cancer of drainage more than 50 ml/d in the 4th day postoperation were divided into 2 groups:the experimental group(thrombin was infused by drain for 45 cases) and the control group(thrombin was no infused by drain for 41 cases). The clinical effect of thrombin was appraised through observation of the total wound drainage and draining liquid color in the 48 h after thrombin infused and subcutaneous hydrops. Results The total drainage of the experimental group(204±96)ml in the 48 h was lower than that of the control group(273±112)ml(P0.01).The incidence of subcutaneous hydrops in the experimental group(11.1%) was lower than that of the control group(29.3%)(χ2=4.46,P0.05).Conclusion The application of thrombin in the modified mastectomy for breast cancer can reduce effectively the wound drainage and subcutaneous hydrops.
