Abstract

Objective:To evaluate relationship between endothelin, nitric oxide and ciradian rhythm of blood pressure in essential hypertension.Methods:50 Patients with essential hypertensitn and 25 patients with normotension were monitored 24 hour blood pressure and examined endothelin ,mitric oxide. Results:In hypertension group,ET increased and NO decreased:According to results of the monitoring, 50 patients hypertension were divided dipper hy pertension and non-dipper hypertension. In non-dippers, endothelin was significantly higher (54.2±18.9) VS (37.7±10.1) ng/L,nitric oxide was lower (32.9±12.8) VS (48.7±11.2) mg/L. There were significant negative correlation between nocturnal blood pressure fall and endothelin (r= -0.51, P 0.05),positive correcation between noctural blood pressure fall and nitric oxide) (r=0.53, P 0.05).Conclusions: Endothelin and nitric oxide might have effects in circadian rhythm of blood pressure in essential hypertension.
