Abstract
Objective To evaluate the comprehensive changes in integration function of left ventricular systolic and diastolic function induced by type 2 diabetic cardiomyopathy through detecting left ventricular Tei index using Doppler echocardiography in the elderly. Methods 95 elderly males included normal control group with 30 normal elderly without diabetic history, group Ⅰ with 34 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes without left ventricular two dimensional structural changes, and group Ⅱ with 31 elderly patients with type 2 diabetic cardiomyopathy with detected left ventricular wall thickening and dilatation. The Doppler echocardiography were used to examine diastolic diameter of left ventricle(LVDd),thickness of inter ventricular septum(IVS)and posterior left ventricle wall(LVPw),ejection fraction(EF)and mitral orifice flow, aortic valve flow and the corresponding time to calculate Tei index. Results Peak A and E,E/A value and Tei index in group Ⅰ and Ⅱ were significantly different from those in control group(all P0.05).There was significant difference in left ventricular wall thickeness in group Ⅱ compared with groupⅠ and control group(all P0.05)respectively.A,E,E/A and Tei index in groupⅠ,Ⅱ was prolonged than that of control group(P0.05).Conclusions Tei index can be serve as the simple,no trauma, sensitive and accurate index to reflect the comprehensive function change of the elderly type 2 diabetic cardiomyopathy, which could provide the evidence for its early diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.
