Abstract
Objective To survey the incidence of thyroid dysfunction in the general population of Shenzhen City. Methods Blood samples from 3 439 individuals were collected and assayed for thyrotropin, free T3/T4 were detected in those with abnormal thyrotropin using quantitative chemilluminescence. Results The positive rates of hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, subclinical hyperthyroidism and subclinical hypothyroidism were 0.5%, 0.52%, 2.1% and 1.9%, respectively. Conclusions The thyroid functional disorders are mainly in subclinical types and their incidences vary greatly in different age and sex groups in Shenzhen City.
