Abstract

Shen Congwen focuses on exploring the existence of urban people in his urban novels,demonstrating their own problems that human being's inter-natural vitality is on the decline under the impact of in the process of conquering nature,of which they are one part;meanwhile,human's spiritual life,as the symbol of senior life,is also turning barren.Shen Congwen's prophecy also coincides with emerging theory of human eco-criticism nowadays.Either man or urban city is certain to become an important target of human eco-criticism.Urban city serves as natural symbol filtered by modern civilization.Between civilization and nature,there is no inherent antinomy.However,footsteps of civilization always seem too heavy to move on.Therefore,writers' exposure and criticism of unreasonable phenomena in urban cities is still under-constructed.
