Helicobacter Pylori (Hp) and Contents of Somatostatin and Gastrin in Chronic Gastritis

Abstract

The contents of somatostatin and gastrin and D-and G-cell density in the antrumwere examined in the patients with Hp negative(Hp-)and Hp positive(Hp+)chronicgastritis.The results showed that the Hp(+)patients had lower somatostatin contents(P0.01),higher ratio of gastrin/somatostatin(P0.05)and lower D-cell density(P0.001),higher G/D-cell ratio(P0.005),than did the Hp(-)patients.It hadbeen found that Hp(+)patients had a higher gastric acid secretion comparing withHp(-)patients.Above results demonstrated that the decrease of somatostatin con-tents was the cause of increase of gastric acid secretion in Hp(+)patients.
