Abstract
Objective To compare the efficacy of intracytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI) and in vitro fertilization(IVF) in patients with poor ovarian response. Methods 127 cycles of poor responders with less than six retrieved oocytes were retrospectively analyzed.Group IVF and group ICSI were compared in terms of fertilization rate, cleavage rate,ET(embryo transfer) cancellation rate and pregnancy rate. Results The patients in two groups with age and causes of infertility and period of infertility were no significant difference(P 0.05).Fertilization rate and frozen embryos rate in group ICSI were much higher than that in group IVF.The patients in two groups stratified according to semen situation: Sperm normal patients were done IVF or ICSI,there were significant differences in fertility rate(P0.05);In ICSI group of semen critical patients portable embryos and accumulative total pregnancy rate were higher than that in group IVF(P0.05),and embryo transfer cancellation rate was lower(P0.05).Though the fertility rate, the quality embryos rate and pregnancy rate were higher than IVF groups,it had no statistical significance(P0.05).Conclusion ICSI can improve fertility rate in normal semen cycle, but it can't change the consequence of pregnancy.ICSI can improve the fertility rate and pregnancy rate to some degrees in critical semen quality groups of patients.
