Abstract
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the expression of Ezrin and CD44 and the correlations between which and patients' clinical pathological parameters in ovarian cancer.METHODS:The expression of Ezrin and CD44 in 33 specimens of ovarian cancer,20 specimens of normal ovarian tissue and 20 specimens of benign ovarian tumor tissue were detected by SP immunohistochemistry method,the expression of the two and patients' clinical pathological parameters in ovarian cancer were subjected to statistical analysis and their correlations were evaluated.RESULTS:In normal ovarian tissue,benign ovarian tumor and ovarian cancer,the positive expression rates of Ezrin were 25.0%,35.0% and 82.7 %,respectively,and the positive expression rates of CD44 were 0,25.0% and 63.7%,respectively.The expression of Ezrin and CD44 increased gradually in normal ovarian tissue,benign ovarian tumor and ovarian cancer,and the differences were significant(P 0.01).The expression of Ezrin and CD44 was correlated to clinical stage and presence of ascites(P 0.05),but was not correlated to histological grade of ovarian cancer(P 0.05).The expression of Ezrin was positively correlated to that of CD44 in ovarian cancer(P 0.01).CONCLUSION:The expression of Ezrin and CD44 was closely correlated to metastasis of ovarian cancer and which has a joint action in the genesis and development of ovarian cancer.The patients who had positive expression of Ezrin and CD44 have higher incidence of metastasis than did those with negative expression of Ezrin and CD44.Coexpression of of Ezrin and CD44 is conducive to a comprehensive judgment of the malignance degree and metastatic potential of ovarian cancer.
