Abstract
Objective To study the effects of sealing methods of retaining needle at vein on the incidence of phlebitis. Method Auto-control method was applied. The experimental dogs were divided into regular group and modified group (with modified sealing method). The two groups were compared after being injected irritating medicine respectively through 2 needles sealed differently and the pathological changes of the veins were studied. Result The modified group showed great lower incidence, and there was significant difference between the two groups (P0.001). Conclusion: After injection of hyperosmotic solution or irritating medicine, and then 20 ml normal saline by intravenous drip, and finally the injection of heparin saline, the incidence of phlebitis could be reduced greatly, and the retaining time of needles could be prolonged.
