Relationship between serum uric acid and C-reactive protein in hyperuricemia rats

Abstract

Objective To study the relationship between blood serum uric acid and C-reactive protein in hyperuricemia rats.Methods Oxonic acid potassium and yeast extract paste were used to establish hyperuricemia rat models.Twenty rats were randomly divided into model group and control group with 12 rats in each group.The levels of blood uric acid and C-reactive protein were measured in 0,2,4 and 6 weeks respectively.In six weeks all rats were executed to observe the pathological change of aorta and immunohistochemical staining of C-reactive protein.Results The levels of serum C-reactive protein and uric acid were obviously higher in model group than those in control group(P0.01).The serum uric acid level was positively correlated with C-reactive protein(r=0.830 4,P0.01).The aortic endothelium markedly swelled in model group and the expression of aortic C-reactive protein was also relatively enhanced compared with that in control group.Conclusion Inflammatory reaction in hyperuricemia rats may injure the function of aorta endotheliocyte.Serum uric acid is positively correlated with expression of C-reactive protein.
