Issues in Land Expropriation and the Countermeasures

Abuse of power exists in land expropriation process.Problems are various: the scope of land expropriation stretches too broad,its procedure is not consummate and lacks transparency,the penalty to the illegal appropriation of land is too lenient,the supervision is too slack,the compensation is insufficient and slow,and the legal protection is too weak.To address these issues,we should improve the related law of land expropriation,scientifically define public interests,regulate government's land expropriation behavior,decide on appropriate land expropriation compensation principles,and establish unimpeded expression mechanism of farmer's interests and sound judicial relief procedures of land expropriation.
