Effect of Huoxue Lishui therapy on expression of transforming growth factor-β1 in traumatic proliferative vitreoretinopathy in rabbits

Abstract

Objective To study the effect of Huoxue Lishui therapy(HLT) on expression of transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1) in traumatic proliferative vitreoretinopathy(PVR).Methods Experimental PVR models were induced by posterior penetrating eye injury and plateletrich plasma(PRP) to the central vitreous cavity,and positive expression of TGF-β1 in PVR was ex-amined with immunohistochemistry.Results Compared with other groups,the positive expression of TGF-β1 in HLT group was decreased(P0.05).Concliusion HLT can decrease the positive expression of TGF-β1 of the proliferative membranes from the vitreous and inhibit the development of PVR.
