Abstract
The Microsoft Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) extended the Component Object Model (COM) tosupport communication among objects on different computers on a local area network (LAN), a wide area network (WAN),or even the Internet. With DCOM, the application could be distributed at locations that made the most sense to customer andto application.
