Abstract
Interpreting Poetries by Confucius collected in Shanghai Museum is hitherto one of the earliest discovered comment works on the Book of Songs, which is of significant value and research focus. In the book, from slip 18 to slip 20, Confucius interpreted three poems: Papaya in Wei Style with euphemistically confirmation of the theme of love, which is supported by Confucians in Song Dynasty,Minor Odes with a summary of yearning mood between husband and wife, and Yong Style with a discovery of love theme and a fundamental reform, which went against the interpretation of the Book of Songs by Confucian scholars in Han,Song, and Qing Dynasties.Confucius's analysis of the theme of Papaya also led a negative Confucian interpretation of the Book of Songs with ritual concepts.
