Pathogenic features of Streptococcus suis Type 2 infection in humans in Guangdong Province

Abstract

Objective To analyze the pathogenic features of 10 strains of type 2 Streptococcus suis isolated in 2005～2006 in ‘Guangdong Province and provide reference for diagnosis,treatment and formalting control measures.Methods Ten strains of type 2 Streptococcus suis were detected by the conventional identification method and PCR technology.Results All of 10 streptococcal strains were type 2 Streptococcus suis.Nine strains showed all of 3 kinds of Streptococcus suis genes(16S rRNA,CPS2J and mrp genes),while the other strain showed only 1 kind of gene(mrp).Conclusion Streptococcus suis infection in humans in Guangdong Province is due to type 2 Streptococcus suis infection.
