Abstract

Objective To explore the relationship between serum levels of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and insulin resistance (IR). Methods The serum IGF-1 and insulin (INS) of 39 patients with hypertension, 36 patients with hypertension with hyperlinpoproteinemia and 50 healthy subjects were measured by radioimmunoassay, and IR value were analysed. Results The level of IGF-1 in the patients group was obviously lower than that of the healthy group (P0.05). The level of INS and IR value in the patient group were obviously higher than those of the healthy group (P0.05 and P0.01). Conclusions The results showed strong relation between the serum IGF-1 and IR in hypertension and hypertension with hyperlinpoproteinemia. Serum level of IGF-1 may reduce in the vary degrees arteriosclerisis in patients.
