Abstract

OBJECTIVE To analyze the distribution and drug resistance of pathogenic bacteria for elderly patients with lower respiratory tract infection, and to provide some knowledge for prevention and treatment of lower respiratory tract infection for elderly patients.METHODS In the period of Jun.2012-Jun.2013,106 cases of elderly inpatients with lower respiratory tract infection were chosen. The pathogenic bacteria were isolated and cultured, and the drug sensitivity tests were conducted.RESULTS The occurrence rate of lower respiratory tract infection for elderly patients was 12.24%.A total of 118 pathogenic strains were isolated, among which 54 were gram-positive,accounting for 45.76%,60 were gram-negative,accounting for 50.85%,and 4 were fungi, accounting for 3.39%.The gram-positive bacteria isolated from lower respiratory tract infection in elderly patients had low resistance against linezolid and TMZ,all below 10%;the gram-negative had low resistant against imipenem and teicoplanin, all below 10%;while fungi had no resistance against griseofulvin.CONCLUSIONThe occurrence rate of lower respiratory tract infection for elderly patients was high,in clinical practice the pathogenic bacteria should first be cultivated and isolated, and drug sensitivity test should be performed, then the low-resistance antimicrobial drugs could be chosen to treat infections in a timely manner.
